Phil grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts and attended public schools there. He later went to Northeast Broadcasting School in Boston, Massachusetts and started in Television Production with Colony Communications in the fall of 1981 as a part-time production assistant working on the local News Program “News Center 13”. This News program covered the Southcoast communities of Fall River, New Bedford and Dartmouth. In 1982 he started shooting local news and doing audio and video playback for the newscast. Phil worked on the local programs “Mayor’s View”, “Impact”, “Bristol County Forum” and “Your Health Matters” produced for St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Phil also worked on the mid 1980’s program “Carversation”, a one hour automotive program dealing with car problems and repairs. This program was done live with viewer calls in the studio’s parking lot.
In the fall of 1984 Phil started directing the local Newscast “Local Cable News”. This program was later called “MediaOne Metro News” and “AT&T 3 News”. In 2003 the Newscast was called “Comcast News 9”. This program gave local viewers local news, weather, and sports.
Phil has videotaped the Fall River City Council meetings for over 17 years, bringing local Government to Fall River residents. For the past three and a half years Phil has worked on local programing and sports for Comcast’s Channel 9 along on working on local Video on demands.
Phil’s hobbies include biking, hiking and skiing.
